Oriental Medicine

Oriental Medicine
Chinese Medicine is a complete, traditional healthcare system that developed in China over 3000 years ago.  It involves the use of natural, effective healing modalities such as acupuncture, acupressure, diet and nutritional counseling, therapeutic exercises, and energy balancing.  Treatment is "holistic," incorporating the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of the client to promote health and integration on all levels.  Individual assessment is based on an extensive health history, point palpation, tongue and pulse diagnosis to determine imbalances in the body's "Qi" flow, or energy system.  Reclaiming health is aimed at eliminating both the symptoms and cause of illness by restoring a balanced energy pattern that allows the body/mind to heal naturally.
  • Acupuncture
  • Acupuncture involves the insertion of hair-fine needles into specific points along the energy channels or "meridians," to stimulate the body's self- healing mechanisms.  Little or no sensation is felt from needle insertion, though points are sometimes activated so that the client feels the warmth or tingling of the energy flow.  Acupuncture has been endorsed by the World Health Organization and the National Institue of Health for treating a wide variety of disorders including pain, asthma, gastrointestinal and respiratory syndromes, PMS, anxiety, and depression.  Oriental and Western medicine compliment each other, and can be combined for optimal health.
  •
  • Acupressure - "Needle-free acupuncture"
  • Acupressure involves stimulating pressure points recognized in Chinese Medicine without the use of needles.  This may be done through massage, application of heat, or commonly by applying tiny seeds to acupressure points in the ear.  Ear acupressure or "auricular therapy," is used to diagnose and treat more than 200 health conditions, including physical and psychological imbalances.
  • Energy Balancing
  • Energy or Qi Balancing is a gentle, non-invasive form of regulating the body's energy flow.  Useful for stress reduction, relaxation, or healing, a session may include a combination of hands-on and energy moving techniques to balance excesses and deficiencies in the meridians and organs.
  • Community Acupuncture Clinic
  • A New Awakening, Inc. is now offering Community Acupuncture Clinics!  Community Acupuncture is a nationwide movement to create access to acupuncture by removing the barrier of cost from healing.  We utilize a reduced fee-for-service of $20 per treatment or 5 treatments for $75.  We use points on the scalp and below the elbows and knees to treat the entire body, so there's no need to undress - just remove your shoes and roll up your pants and sleeves.  And yes, we can even address your back pain by treating your wrists.  You will be surrounded by other people quietly receiving treatment at the same time.  Patients benefit many ways from the community setting.  In our busy society, it is not often we stop and take time to relax while surrounded by our peers.  This is not a lack of privacy, but an opportunity to experience treatment with family, friends, and community.  As with any intentional group endeavor, the shared state makes individual treatments more powerful.  Here, the patients create the healing atmosphere as much as the practioner.  We know that acupuncture is powerful, life-changing medicine.  As Healers, we belive that it is our role to provide access to this medicine to as many people as possible.

Most symptoms can be improved or alleviated completely including:

- Physical Pain: (recent and chronic) in joints and/or muscles, fibromyalgia, headaches, migraines

- Emotional: stress and its side effects, insomnia, anxiety, depression, mood swings, irritability

- Digestive: digestive pain or discomfort (heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation), IBS
